Experience of the stay
Experiences during the trip
Arrived in Kanazawa by Shinkansen around 11 AM 🚄. It took about two and a half hours from Tokyo Station, surprisingly fast.
Right after arriving at the station, I headed to Morimori Sushi, a famous conveyor belt sushi restaurant. I got there about ten minutes before opening and had to wait behind six groups. I was seated immediately after. The sushi had large toppings and was delicious!
After that, I walked about 15 minutes from the station to the hotel. I left my luggage at the hotel and went to Higashi Chaya District. The weather was perfect, and strolling around felt refreshing 🚶♀️. I enjoyed some alone time and hopped between two cafes.
Kazu Nakashima's fruit daifuku was so big that if you couldn't finish it, they would allow you to take it home. I couldn't finish mine and took it back to the hotel. The juicy fruit daifuku was exquisite.
Ichisho is a hojicha specialty cafe. You select your favorite from three types of hojicha, which is served with either Western sweets or Japanese sweets. I enjoyed a special experience in a quiet space. I certainly want to go back! I've recommended it to many of my friends!
After exploring the non-touristy areas by walking to Kanazawa Castle, I returned to the hotel around 3 PM. I relaxed in the hotel watching movies until dinner.
For dinner, I made my debut at a solo izakaya! I went to Uogin in Katamachi. It seemed to be a popular place because the seats filled up quickly after I entered right when they opened.
Every dish was delicious, and I ended up eating too much. I even enjoyed some sake, which I usually don't drink 🍶.
On the second day, I woke my sleepy body up at 6 AM to go to Kenrokuen Garden. The opening times vary by season, but you can enter for free until 15 minutes before opening. The morning walk was refreshing with a cool breeze, and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art had a strangely empty atmosphere.
I returned to the hotel for a quick nap 😴.
When I woke up, I went back to the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art. This time, I took my time and enjoyed the artworks. Even on a weekday, there were many people around at lunch.
Finally, I visited the Ishikawa Prefectural Library, which I had wanted to check out. It was chosen as a filming location for the movie "Library Wars," and the sunlight streaming through the ceiling made it a lovely library. I wished I could have stayed longer, but I just did a quick tour and headed back home.
Kanazawa is compact, making it easy to visit various sightseeing spots, and it's highly recommended for solo travelers!
Since I started using HafH, traveling feels closer to me. I can change my schedule based on the weather, and while I sometimes feel lonely, I also appreciate spending time alone. I feel like I've grown up! LOL
I definitely recommend that everyone visit Kanazawa!
