The Sardine Building is located in the northwestern part of Kagoshima, in the town of Akune, which faces the sea. Akune Station is about a 15-minute walk away, or a 5-minute taxi ride away.

The first floor of the Sardine Building is a café and shop, the second floor is a factory, and the third floor is a hostel (simple accommodation).
The interior of the renovated office building is equipped with fishing lanterns used by fishing boats, and chairs used in local schools have been remade, and the local character has been incorporated into the interior design.

The renovated building is designed to be a remake of the fishing lights used on fishing boats and the chairs used in schools, and to add some work to the area.
