Experience of the stay
I came to Kyoto for HafH Travel Week and stayed at the reliable Daiwa Roynet.
It’s about a 5-minute walk from Kyoto Station.
Amenities are minimal and located near the front desk, so you should bring what you need.
The room was simple and calming.
While many Daiwa Roynet hotels have separate baths and toilets, this one did not.
It had an ionity hairdryer and a humidifier.
Since I was mostly out, my experience at the hotel was limited to the room.
Experiences during the trip
I attended an event at Anteroom Kyoto for HafH. It was helpful to be within walking distance from the hotel.
Although I didn't see the guest rooms, the hotel has an artistic vibe and is lovely.
The next day, I also attended a HafH event at LE UN (Ruan), a resort in Funa-tsurukyo-kamo River, in a building with a history of 140 years, and I took a ride on the manually operated elevator.
Although I had seen it from the Kamo River side before, it was my first time inside. I was impressed with the delicious food as well.
After the event, I walked to Kyoto Station for a photo walk. I took out from fuku coffee roastery, a coffee shop that deals with meticulously sourced coffee beans, and I found the cup unique and easy to drink, delicious too.
As it started to rain, I ducked into a cafe along the way and practiced product photography. I got a lesson on shooting techniques and editing methods, which was educational and something I want to apply in my future shooting.
I stopped by the nearby wine bar ALKAA, where I found the owner a photography enthusiast. I had interesting conversations about photography and the vintage speakers in the shop, as well as delicious wine.
I visited the stylish cafe THE Lower East Nine cafe -LE9-, which seemed popular for breakfast. When I went there during lunch, the food was sold out, so I had a toast with sweet red bean paste, and both the toast and latte were delicious.
On the final day, I walked from the hotel to Toji Temple.
I was able to have a special viewing of the five-story pagoda. It was crowded and I had to hurry, but I was able to see the internal structures and the Buddha statues.
Cherry blossoms were starting to bloom, and I would love to visit when they are in full bloom.
