Experience of the stay
The consistent comfort of Daiwa Roynet Hotel is fantastic; even when we declined cleaning during our stay, they provided fresh towels and pajamas for our comfort.
The pajamas were a two-piece set and very soft to the touch. We could even walk around the hotel in them, including the public bath area.
Also, I was pleasantly surprised by the Ume Kombucha (laugh).
Located on the quiet side opposite the bustling east side of Nara Station, it was very tranquil at night, which was great.
When I was about to go out for dinner, a sudden heavy rain hit, so we decided to use the restaurant on the first floor.
I was so caught up in eating that I didn't manage to take photos, but I was glad to enjoy Nara's local dish, Asuka Nabe (my favorite)!
Experiences during the trip
This trip was a two-night, three-day visit to Kyoto and Nara, revisiting famous spots my partner wanted to see again.
We gathered prior information that tickets to enter the Byodoin Temple are quickly sold out, so we made an effort to act early.
Even then, we arrived at Uji Station by 9 AM.
The coin lockers were still available, and we managed to get an entry ticket for the 11 AM session about two hours later.
On the way back, we stopped at a tea shop where an architect made us traditional tea, and were given a local map with suggestions to visit Uji Shrine and Ujigami Shrine if we had time. The riverside scenery on the way was also charming.
On another day, we visited the Omiwa Shrine and met someone who kindly and interestingly taught us history, despite our lack of knowledge. We had a rich experience, including sightings of large white birds and snakes. Those unexpected encounters while traveling are delightful!
