A Relaxing Stay to Enjoy Awaji Island

Umekiya is a cozy inn located along the western coast of Awaji Island. It features only five guest rooms, providing an intimate atmosphere. Originally a dining inn called "Umekiya Ryokan" that has been around since the Meiji era, it was a familiar place for locals, often used for weddings and gatherings, but unfortunately had to close its doors. In December 2019, we reopened as "Umekiya," preserving the charm of the old ryokan while undergoing renovations. We strive to create a space that reflects the ambiance of the times while accommodating modern travel styles. While we may cause some inconvenience, we hope you can take your time enjoying not just Umekiya but the whole town of Tsushi as well. 【Important Notice for Guests】 ■ About Rooms and Bathrooms ・The guest rooms do not have shower, toilet, or washbasin; these are shared facilities. ・The guest rooms are located on the second floor, while the toilet and shower are on the first floor. ・There is no bathtub available; showers can be reserved for exclusive use for one hour at a time. ・There is a hot spring facility just a 5-minute drive away, and we provide discount tickets. ■ About Meals ・Dinner is not included. We can recommend nearby dining options: ① Otafuku – 5-minute walk A friendly restaurant where you can enjoy set meals during the day and izakaya fare at night. The specialty dishes “Octopus Tempura” and “Sawara Don” come highly recommended! ② Yoshi – 3-minute walk This is the place to enjoy Awaji beef. They offer a rich menu and private rooms, making it a great choice for families with children. ③ Harukichi – 5-minute walk Recommended for those who want to savor sushi and fresh local fish. It’s a popular place, so reservations are a must! ④ Kappou Hato – 3-minute walk A Michelin one-star establishment. The carefully prepared dishes with a focus on ingredients are beautiful and delicate. Reservations are required at least a day in advance. ・Breakfast is available for 1500 yen per meal (pay locally). Please let us know the number of meals you would like in advance. ・There are small supermarkets and convenience stores within walking distance. ■ About Amenities ・Shampoo, body soap, treatment, bath towels, and face towels are provided in the shower room. ・Toothbrushes are provided in the guest rooms. ・Please bring your own yukata, as we do not provide them. ■ Other Information ・If you have children, please include them in your reservation, and let us know their number and ages in advance via message. (There are child rates, so the difference will be refunded at check-in) ・Free parking is available for your use. ・We purposely do not have a TV installed. Enjoy a peaceful time. ・Located along the western coast, you can catch breathtaking sunsets over the Seto Inland Sea just a short walk away. A 5-minute walk to the coast is recommended for a morning or evening stroll.
