Oedo Kominka no Sato "Osugitanigawanitatazumuirorinoyado" is located in a corner of Osugimachi near the headwaters of the Osugi River, about 20km away from the center of Komatsu City.
The former Shimosato House, a nationally registered tangible cultural property, was renovated and opened in May 2021.
The building is said to have been constructed about 180 years ago, at the end of Japan's Edo period.
It is an invaluable two-story wooden building that retains the style of an upper-class farmhouse.
The peaceful sound of the Osugi River that flows in front of the inn is met with the chirping of small birds and the tree leaves rustling in the breeze.
When the weather is nice, you can enjoy BBQ on the wooden deck facing the river.
The first (ground) floor of the building is a shared space with a sunken hearth, designed for socializing.
