It was my first time in Asahikawa.
This trip included a 2-night stay.
*One night booked through the OMO official website for a Penguin Room.
I took a shuttle bus from Asahiyama Zoo (reservation required) and arrived at the hotel around 4 PM.
The hotel is right in front of where you get off the bus.
I had heard it was a rebranded hotel, and it looks stylish without feeling old-fashioned from the outside.
Inside, I was welcomed by a cute polar bear!
It made me want to take a photo right away.
Next to the front desk, there was a welcome drink service of "corn tea."
Check-in is easy with support from the front desk staff, so it's reassuring even for those uncomfortable with tablet operations.
After receiving my room card, I headed to my room!
I was in a room on the top floor which had a nice view!
Though compact, it was spacious enough for a solo traveler.
It was a twin room with beds on both the wall side and the window side.
The bathroom is a unit with the toilet combined, but there’s a bathing facility in the basement, so it didn’t bother me.
The bathing facility is centered around the sauna!
There are two types: steam sauna and dry sauna, plus a cool bath.
The cool bath has a walking pool, making it great for walking or sitting on chairs in the water! I found sitting on the chair to be quite pleasant.
The warm bath area is small.
It’s smaller than the sauna, so only about 3 or 4 people can lie comfortably in it. If you’re not there primarily for the bath, I think this setup suits sauna enthusiasts.
The ice cream, apple vinegar, and haskap lychee after the bath were so delicious that I wanted to go in again and again!
On the first floor, OMO Café serves sweets like cakes and parfaits, along with drinks like alcohol and coffee.
I had cotton candy, parfaits, and made my own polar bear Mont Blanc! Mont Blanc is easy enough for kids to make, so it’s something they would enjoy.
Both were delicious!

【Neighborhood Miscellaneous Goods Shop and Café Tour】
We visited cute shops selling miscellaneous goods and a specialty picture book store, where we had cheese tastings at a homemade cheese shop! I’m glad I participated in this activity because I discovered shops I wouldn’t have entered otherwise.
【Local Gourmet Exploration】
Asahikawa’s specialties are "Asahikawa Ramen," "Shinko-yaki," and "Shio Horumon."
They of course introduced me to a few great spots for these three delicious dishes, as well as places serving seafood.
They guide you right up to the restaurant, so it’s much easier than searching with a map, and I recommend it.
However, note that they can sometimes be fully booked or have long lines.
In the evening, activities introducing Asahiyama Zoo are held at the OMO Base in front of the front desk.
It’s designed to be enjoyable even after visiting Asahiyama Zoo and changes daily.

아사히카와를 대표하는 관광 명소입니다.
겨울철에는 펭귄 산책을 볼 수 있습니다.
흰곰, 늑대, 키타 여우, 너구리 등 인기 있는 동물을 볼 수 있습니다.
레스토랑도 있어 원내에서 식사하는 것도 좋습니다.

지금도 남아 있어 역사적인 느낌을 받을 수 있는 귀중한 장소입니다.

아사히카와 제설 축제로 유명한 곳입니다.
축제 시기는 아니어서 볼 수는 없었지만 얼음 조각을 볼 수 있는 곳입니다.
음식점과 쇼핑을 즐길 수 있고 눈이 쌓이지 않도록 도로 히팅이 되어 있습니다.
○ 메이코켄 아사히카와 공항 점
아사히카와 공항 내 푸드 코트에 있는 라면 가게입니다.
다른 가게와 달리 오전부터 영업하고 있어 대기 시간 동안 이용하기도 좋습니다.
간장 라면을 먹었습니다. 담백하면서도 맛이 잘 느껴져 맛있었습니다.

아사히카와 시내에서 인기 있는 가게입니다.
명물 요리는 '신고 구운 것'과 '챱돈'입니다.
신고 구운 것은 양념과 소금을 선택할 수 있습니다.

일본 술 양조장이 있는 직판점입니다.
기념품으로 술을 사가고자 하는 분들에게 추천하는 가게입니다.
매장 내에는 휴식 공간도 있어 자가제 단주를 사서 쉬는 것도 가능합니다.
○ 스타벅스 아사히카와 북채도 점
강 근처에 있는 스타벅스입니다.
청결감이 있는 인테리어로 테라스 자석에서 강을 바라볼 수 있습니다.
토요일에 갔지만 생각보다 한산하여 휴식하기에 적당했습니다.

아사히 다리 근처에 있는 역사 건축을 리노베이션한 카페입니다.
레트로한 외관에 이끌려 들어갔습니다.
매장 내는 차분한 분위기입니다.
토키와 구운 것이 명물로 달콤하고 맛있었습니다.

아사히카와 라면의 원조(？)라고 불릴 만큼 역사 있는 라면 가게입니다.
매장 내에는 연예인의 사인이 많이 장식되어 있습니다.
호불호가 갈릴 것 같다고 들었습니다만, 국물이 다른 아사히카와 라면과 비교할 때 독특한 풍미가 있어 싫어하는 분도 있을 수 있습니다.
