A “Solo Dining Map” perfect for solo travelers
The lyf guards (lyf staff) have carefully curated a list of cozy, welcoming spots where you can feel comfortable dining alone. From stylish cafés to hearty meals, and even casual bars when you just want a quick drink, the map covers a wide variety of options to suit any mood.

Stay up late and relax in the morning. Late check-out until 12:00 is included.
Being alone gives you plenty of freedom in the evenings and space in the mornings.
There’s no need to worry about not being able to wake up here!

There’s even a workspace, a cafe bar, and a sourced kitchen!
The appeal of lyf is the comprehensive “social space” where you can live as if you were at home.
You can use it by yourself at your leisure, and sometimes you’ll even meet someone. This “just right distance” is what makes lyf unique.

Exploring the Tenjin area starts with a walking tour led by a lyf guard👟
Right after check-in, a lyf guard takes you on a mini tour around the neighborhood!
The hotel is located in a quiet spot just outside Tenjin, one of Fukuoka’s main gourmet hubs. From there, the tour leads you into the lively area, with the first stop being a popular café loved by locals.

We stopped by MANU COFFEE Daimyo, a local favorite. The stylish, art-filled interior creates a sophisticated vibe, and with plenty of solo customers, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy some time on your own.
I grabbed a cup of their rich, aromatic coffee to go — the perfect companion for strolling through the city.

With coffee in hand, I stopped by Kego Shrine and Kego Park.
Rather than being major tourist attractions, both are places that blend seamlessly into the daily lives of locals.
Kego Shrine, located right in the heart of Tenjin, has a calm and peaceful atmosphere. Many people casually drop by to pray on their way to work or while shopping, making it a small but cherished sanctuary in the city.
Kego Park, on the other hand, feels more like an open plaza — perfect for meeting up with friends or taking a short break. While it’s not flashy, it gives you a true sense of the local vibe. With plenty of cafés nearby, it was the perfect spot to sit back and relax with my takeaway coffee.

The Solo Dining Map really came in handy! With this, you’ll never run out of great food options.
The Tenjin area is packed with so many amazing restaurants that it’s almost impossible to choose. That’s where the Solo Dining Map, an exclusive perk of the lyf Solo Travel Project, comes to the rescue.
Curated by local lyf guards, the map only features spots they genuinely recommend — making it the perfect companion for solo travelers. I picked one from the map without hesitation and enjoyed their top pick: a delicious fried chicken set meal at Imaizumi Kitchen for dinner!

The fried chicken set meal came with this generous portion for just 860 yen (tax included).
On top of that, rice, miso soup, and pickles were all-you-can-refill — such great value! It’s perfect for travelers who want a hearty, budget-friendly meal. With counter seating and plenty of solo diners dropping by, it had a welcoming atmosphere that made it easy to enjoy even on a solo trip.

From day one, it feels like living in Fukuoka! lyf’s space design that blends into everyday life
The rooms at lyf are thoughtfully designed for both short stays and longer visits.
Many guests actually cook for themselves in the shared kitchen, stir-frying meat and vegetables, creating a vibe where you can truly live like a local even while traveling.
With plenty of cookware, dishes, and even a large refrigerator, you don’t have to worry about stocking up on groceries. It really made me want to come back for a week-long stay next time, to enjoy more of that everyday Fukuoka life!

More than just functional — lyf spaces are infused with culture
While the guest rooms are comfortable, what really makes you want to stay longer are the social spaces.
Here, you’ll find other guests each enjoying their own “me time,” yet there’s a curious sense of comfort — being alone, but never lonely.
When you feel like connecting, conversations flow naturally. And when you prefer quiet, you can simply enjoy your own space. That perfect balance is part of lyf’s unique charm.

A great tip: start by taking a seat at the bar counter.
In the casual, laid-back atmosphere, a lyf guard will naturally strike up a friendly conversation, helping you relax in no time. Before you know it, the chat flows easily, and those small moments of connection become part of your travel memories.
Many of the staff are from overseas, but no worries — they all speak excellent Japanese!

During my stay, there was a special exhibition by local Fukuoka artists, and I even had the chance to hear the creators explain their works firsthand — a truly unique experience.
lyf hosts events like this frequently, so planning your stay around one of them is definitely worth considering.
